Your time is valuable and efficiencies are great! Having used various versions of QuickBooks for quite some time, I am aware of many shortcuts and always on the lookout for helpful hints and time saving tips. Below are four that are relevant to QBO – I hope you find them useful.
- Browser – it’s been recommended that you use either Chrome or Firefox; there have been reports of limited functionality and glitches with Internet Explorer.
- Dates – there are a number of shortcuts that can be used when entering dates. Rather than type in a date or use the calendar to select a date, try these in the date field:
- Today’s Date: T
- Next day: +
- Previous day: –
- Beginning of week: W
- End of week: K
- Beginning of month: M
- End of month: H
- Beginning of year: Y
- End of year: R
- Calculations – when you are in an amount field, quick and easy calculations can be performed. Simply type in the calculation (ie., 100+7.5) and press Enter when you are finished.
- Multiple tabs – it’s possible to have various views open at the same time so you can efficiently work between reports and categories. On the left side of the home screen, right click any of the categories and select “open link in new tab” or “open link in new window” (whichever you prefer). This function also works with reports, such as Balance Sheet or Profit and Loss.
Stay tuned – over the coming months, I’ll share some more QuickBooks tips and tricks.
